Grades Are Not a Measure of a Student’s Worth

🎓 GRADES ARE NOT A MEASURE OF ANY STUDENT’S WORTH

Some of the most intelligent people—men and women I know—were not top students. They didn’t have straight A’s, nor did they ace every test with the maximum score. On the contrary, they received poorer grades and were far from being “model” pupils…

Later in life, they became successful entrepreneurs, builders, and merchants—and their bad grades in school did not stop them from fulfilling their purpose and excelling at what they do.

Take Einstein, for example—he was expelled from high school. One of the world’s greatest painters, Salvador DalĂ, couldn’t stand authority and refused to let anyone grade his work. In school, teachers saw John Lennon as a clown, a hopeless case, and a bad example to other students. Stephen Hawking, the brilliant physicist, was among the weakest students in school and showed interest in only a few subjects—physics being one of them, which he loved obsessively.

So let’s help children not to believe that grades determine their value. Let’s help them learn not to feel stressed if they don’t get the highest mark.

They can fail any test—and that still doesn’t mean they are not smart or that they are worth less.

Within every child lies a seed of greatness that is too often stifled by a poor education system and misguided upbringing.
